Wind Turbine Technician
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) accurately and on schedule
- Take necessary action to identify and prevent, or limit failure to optimize turbine efficiency and minimize downtime
o Carefully track spare parts and consumable usage, and ensure costs are correctly applied
- Ensure employee time sheets are completed and submitted accurately
o Comply with all work instructions, quality control procedures and safety rules
o Perform regular inspections of company facilities, equipment and vehicles
o May be required to work with Engineering and Construction on project commissioning and erection activities
o Other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
o Experience servicing wind turbines, particularly from the following manufacturers: GE, Siemens, and Vestas highly desirable.
o High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Technical training and/or apprenticeship training in schematics, mechanical theory, electrical theory and wind-specific equipment training desirable
o Ability to wear all required PPE, climb ladders multiple times per day to heights in excess of 80 meters, work in confined spaces, and in adverse weather conditions
o Manual dexterity and the ability to properly use hand and power tools weighing up to 100 lbs.
o Willing/able to work an alternate schedule with overtime, some weekends and holidays
o Ability to travel overnight to domestic and international locations approximately 10% of each year
o Intermediate computer literacy and software skills
o Ability to successfully pass all related Safety, Electrical and Mechanical training
o Previous experience in performing meggar testing, using laser alignment equipment for generator alignment, multi-meters and amperage clamps; Hydraulic bolt tensioning equipment and torque wrenches is desirable
o Strong attention to detail
o Valid driver's license
o Ability to work in teams
